Planning for Instruction
The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in
meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Reflection
For my Introduction to Scientific Inquiry class I was required to develop lesson plans that met curriculum standards and learning goals. For my
lesson, I decided to do a lab experience to discover concepts concerning sound waves and energy. The lesson includes learning stations in which I can split the class into groups and have them rotate through the stations, writing their observations in their journal. Before they split into groups, the
class will fill out the first two sections of a KWL chart. After all students
visit each discovery station, they will come together again to discuss their
observations, while finishing the chart. Question prompts are included in the lesson plan, as well as extensions, and differentiation ideas. I think this
lesson encourages critical thinking and creativity. The ability to plan multi-disciplinary instruction will benefit me greatly in my future classroom. I
will be able to plan effective lessons that will help might students reach their learning goals.

Reflection
My Introduction to Scientific Inquiry class required the students to create several lab experiences, as well as lesson plans. The study of science is most engaging when students have the opportunity to participate in lab experiences. These experiences promote discovery and critical thinking, as well as reflection and note taking. These skills are important across all the disciplines and therefore are very beneficial. I will do my best to create many hands-on, cross-curricular, discovery lessons as a teacher.
